Dear Friends,

When we set out to raise $25,000 last year in order to unlock an additional $25,000 matching gift, our members delivered in decisive fashion, donating more than $43,000 in a handful of weeks. This holiday season, we’re doubling our goal, with the help of a matching gift from a new, anonymous donor. We’re grateful for the donor’s generosity, and energized by the belief that we and our members are up to the challenge.

Right now, gifts of $250 and above will be matched, up to a total of $50,000 in member giving. If you’re looking to make a statement with your year-end giving, and to amplify the impact of your gift, the time to give to MFSA couldn’t be better.

We’re grateful that this year we were able to connect with so many of our members taking part in our programming, including our two debates at MIT and our second annual conference. We’re looking forward to presenting a fresh slate of programming in 2025, in which we'll also be making exciting enhancements to our operations to boost our organizational capacity. With your help, MFSA will begin the new year on even stronger footing to help change the climate for free expression at MIT for the better.

Bonus: A Special Alumni Free Speech Alliance Forum open to MFSA Members

This Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. ET, the Alumni Free Speech Alliance will be hosting a Zoom discussion with Tom Ginsburg and Tony Banout, Faculty Director and Executive Director, respectively, of the University of Chicago’s Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression. Recently, the Forum received a $100 million gift to advance its mission and programs, and we’re excited to hear, among other things, about what the Forum might do with such a transformative gift – as well as to hear the leaders’ insights on their work for free expression at UChicago. If you’d like to join tomorrow’s meeting, you can find more information on MFSA’s calendar.
