MFSA's All Hands meetings return for 2025, with professor and author Stephen R.C. Hicks as as first guest speaker for the year.

At MFSA's first all-hands meeting of 2025, our special guest is Professor Stephen R.C. Hicks, who will speak on "Free Speech as a Human Need—and Its DEI Opponents," discussing individual's need for freedom of speech, the role of knowledge-seeking institutions like MIT in fulfilling that need, and contemporary sources of opposition to free speech.

In addition to Professor Hicks' remarks, MFSA's meeting will include updates from MFSA leadership, previews of upcoming programming and discussion of ongoing initiatives, and Q&A with MFSA members. MFSA's all-hands meetings run for one hour and thirty minutes, and will be posted to the member section of MFSA's website shortly following.

About Stephen Hicks:

Stephen R. C. Hicks has been Professor of Philosophy at Rockford University, Illinois, Visiting Professor of Business Ethics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Visiting Professor at University of Kasimir the Great, Poland, Visiting Fellow at Harris Manchester College of Oxford University, and Visiting Professor at Jagiellonian University, Poland.

He is author of Explaining Postmodernism: Skepticism and Socialism from Rousseau to Foucault, Nietzsche and the Nazis, and has published in Business Ethics Quarterly, Review of Metaphysics, and The Wall Street Journal. His writings have been translated into twenty languages.
